EHAP - All arborists must be trained to recognize and avoid electrical hazards. Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP) helps you meet yearly OSHA & MIOSHA safety requirements for anyone who works near utility lines.

Every crew should have at least one person qualified to administer first aid /CPR. For line clearance certified tree crews there must be a minimum of two CPR Certified crew members. This class follows the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Program. Participants will learn to recognize/respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

The ISA’s Utility Specialist credential is offered to ISA Certified Arborists with demonstrated experience in utility arboriculture. Candidates must pass an exam covering a broad range of topics specific to utility arboriculture. ISA’s Utility Specialist Certification Study Guide is peer reviewed, researched and referenced to ensure it aligns with current trends and practices. However, it should be noted that exam content is not dictated by the guide. Authors Randall H. Miller and Geoff Kempter will provide an overview of the study guide. Questions and discussion will be encouraged.

This one-day program is for Crane Signal/Rigger Qualification, which, as of December 17, 2022, will be required as per ANSI B30.5 standards. This update is requiring that at least one of your riggers must be qualified. LUNCH INCLUDED

Students will increase their knowledge and skills in rigging operations. This class provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about how to properly inspect and apply rigging.

Whenever working within fall zone and hooking, unhooking and guiding a load or doing the initial connection of a load to a component or structure Qualified Riggers are required, as per OSHA (1926.1425(c))

According to OSHA, a qualified rigger is defined as: Person holds a degree, certificate or professional standing OR. Person has extensive knowledge, training and experience AND Person can successfully demonstrate their ability.

When is a qualified rigger required?
Employers must use qualified riggers during hoisting activities for assembly and disassembly work (1926.1404(r)(1)). Additionally, qualified riggers are required whenever workers are within the fall zone and hooking, unhooking, or guiding a load, or doing the initial connection of a load to a component or structure (1926.1425(c)).
